The Preacher's Wife
Comments and Poems
By Ruth R. Martin

I am not submitting anything to The Prayer Life this month. Instead, with her permission, I am sharing a personal email to me from our daughter, Deborah Gillespie. For fifteen years she taught kindergarten and music at a Christian school. Her major in college well equipped her for teaching music and her role as mother of Joshua and Rebecca certainly qualified her to teach young children in a loving and godly manner. I loved the poems she shared with me and I know you will also. May I wish each of you and your loved ones a blessed and joyous Christmas season as we celebrate the virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Here are Debbie's poems for your enjoyment. Romans 8:28

God's Gift To Me

God's gift to me
Was not under the tree,
Nor wrapped with tinsel or gold;
But laid gently in hay
On that first Christmas Day-
So tender and mild, I am told.

God's gift to me
Was not under the tree,
Nor tucked in a stocking of red;
But announce by angels
With voices like bells,
While He slept in His manger bed.

God's gift to me
Was upon the Tree
When He gave His only Son;
Who saved me by grace
As He died in my place....
T'was Jesus, God's Precious Son!

And then, as a New Year's thought :

A LITTLE KID LIKE ME!

With so many new things in God's world to see...
I'm glad I'm a little kid like me!
So many adventures......new ideas to explore!
I have so many questions.....I want to know more!
Each day brings something new to do:
Loosing a tooth or tying my shoe.....

Growing......
Learning.....
Always running!

Resting.
Pausing.
Always thinking!

With so many things in God's world to see,
Don't you wish you were
A little kid like me?
